MOZAMBIQUE: Elephant & Buffalo Hunt

Good day AH members and followers

Our last hunt of the season took place in Mozambique bordering the Kruger National Park. We are grateful to have ended the year on such a high.
Our clients arrived at KMI airport in Mbombela (previously Nelspruit) where we collected them and drove around four hours by motor vehicle passing the Komati Border post. There was a bit of a delay but we made it into camp before dark.

If you want to shoot dangerous game..

Can we have a civil discussion on this topic..?

To my mind, if you want to hunt dangerous game, let it be dangerous, otherwise you may as well just shoot deer. DG is to be shot at as close range as possible, either with a bolt rifle or a double..

A buffalo is not dangerous when you shoot him at 80 yards with a .375H&H from sticks.. I mean..if you hunt DG, isnt the taste of danger a part of the experience..?

MY neighbor is a lion guide/ outfitter here in Nevada and according to the state fish and game commission he takes more big Toms than any other outfitter in the state.
HERE is his most recent lion and he's up on the mountains after another as I post this.

Do you go afield with “hunting” or “nice” shotguns

Whenever it’s time to go out on a hunt using a shotgun, do you usually take what I think most people would call a gun that is far too nice to use? Maybe like a fox, holland and holland, aya, kreighoff or whatever.

Or do you take what’s considered a more typical modern hunting shotgun? Like a benelli or Winchester and the like.

Perhaps you have 2 dozen shotguns that are a mix of both where each one has a specific quarry, condition, and phase of the moon.
