The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. So I suggest that USA made products such as firearms and ammunition should be sold exclusively within the USA so Canada and Europe can help our esteemed neighbour defend themselves and improve their national security. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that Canadians and Europeans...

.450 Dakota (500gr/2350fps) and the Dakota 76 African rifle
I'd owned a ZKK 602 in .375 H&H, and a Win Model 70 in .416 RM (which I took on my first African safari).

The .416 RM (400gr/2400fps) is a fine medium, but I really wanted a .458 for its extra edge. Buffalo seems to stay down more reliably with that larger caliber.
When I was planning my second Cape Buffalo hunt, I wanted a 500gr .458 which was shouldered/nonbelted/noncompressed, and easily capable of 2300-2450fps. It did not have to be in a standard length action. I don't...

SOUTH AFRICA: My First Safari: A Cape Buffalo Hunt I’ll Never Forget
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I recently returned from South Africa on my first safari. There is so much to share, but for now, I would like to share one of the greatest days of my life, when I killed a Cape buffalo.
I kept a journal throughout the safari, writing in it each night, so this is a transcript from that from the day of the hunt, and the day after.
The cast of this story:
Alexis - my wife.
Jake - my brother in law.
Charles - my professional hunter.
Treymoor - our...

Hello from the Czech Republic
My name is Frantisek and I have been hunting since 1991.
Over the years hunting has taken me to different parts of Europe and beyond, and one of the things I enjoy most is getting to know local hunters, their traditions and the way hunting is done in different countries.
I live and hunt in the Czech Republic, so that is naturally the area where I know the hunting culture best, but I have also spent many years travelling and exchanging hunting experiences with hunters from other countries...

Hesitations about Africa
This is not intended to be a negative thread and I do request that it doesn’t degenerate into any arguments or rudeness to one another like some recent topics I’ve read.
There are obviously lots of great things about hunting Africa but were there some things that you were apprehensive about or thought you may not like?
How did this pan out?
Some things may have been a non issue and soon forgotten, others perhaps you did in fact not enjoy.
Maybe it was the safety of where you were...
